Neutral Elegant Master Bedroom Mood Board (with Sources)

Hello everyone!  I hope you all had a blessed Christmas with your loved ones.  We had a wonderful Christmas weekend with the entire family.  Other than our traditional annual family sleepover (with all 13 of us), the highlights of our family celebration included lots of karaoke and some ultra competitive chess games. 😂  Some of us also managed to make it to midnight mass this year, rather than the usual Christmas Eve service.  Our kids told us "it was the BEST Christmas ever"... which seems to be the case every single year. 😍

I'm popping in today to share a master bedroom mood board I created that incorporates some great home decor finds on sale right now.  I usually find post-Christmas sales to be much more enticing!

I love several aspects of this room, but those crocodile-embossed nightstands are definitely a favorite.  They're a steal too.  Happy shopping!

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Thank you, dear friends, for spending some of your valuable time with me over here at CAD INTERIORS!  Without devoted and supportive readers like you, this blog would not be possible.  Merriest Christmas from my family to yours!

Small Holiday Vignettes

Christmas happens to be THE holiday that we put much effort into making extra special for our boys.  From Advent activities to baking sweet treats, blasting Christmas music and playing games, it is our hope that their childhood traditions will be memories they hold special in their hearts forever.

For this very reason, I tend to sprinkle Christmas cheer throughout most rooms in our home.  I'm sharing the last few snippets of some holiday vignettes around our house today.  You can click here to see our "official" holiday home tour.

THE BOYS' BEDROOM

Christmas holiday decor kids bedroom

The boys get their own little tree in their bedroom every year.  It's usually decorated in their handmade ornaments, but this year, we just hung some candy cane treats and wooden ornaments from our holiday decor stash.

The Misfits crammed took over the kids' shelves.  My boys anticipate the return of these stuffed toys, along with the singing Santa and other musical toys, every year.  By the way, do you spot Coconut, our elf?!  He has been keeping a very close eye on the boys lately. 😉

THE KITCHEN

The mini project in the kitchen is done!  I'll show it to you in the new year 😄, but here is a sneak peek of the area currently filled with seasonal cheer...

A Holiday Birthday

Aside from the merriment that accompanies the holiday season, December also happens to be a busy birthday month in our household.  Last Sunday, we hosted a very casual and intimate family gathering to celebrate my older son's twelfth birthday!  I think it must be "hard" especially as a child having a birthday so close to a major holiday, so I try to keep each occasion separate and special every single year.

We ultimately set-up the food on the kitchen island, which is also where the kids ate...

It is always fun when our family gathers, but welcoming them into our home during the holiday season brings a more festive dimension.  Our warm and cozy holiday home was filled with even more love, laughter, and family on this special evening!

The four of us ended the night with a movie and sleepover in our family room... although my hubby escaped to a comfortable bed in the middle of the night... hmmm.

We continued the birthday fun at an amusement park on Monday, my son's actual birthday!

I hope you are all enjoying the holiday season with your loved ones!

Around the Web: Christmas Edition

There has been no shortage of home tours, gift guides, and everything and anything related to Christmas happening around the web.  I thought I'd highlight five that caught my attention for various reasons.

If you follow me on Facebook, then you may have already caught a glimpse of Cristina's red and white holiday dining room.  Aside from the classic Christmas decor, her holiday tour impressed because it was done in conjunction with a full dining room makeover!  She constructed the built-in wall and coffered ceiling with her own two hands!  Amazing.

The Suburban Bee's home tours were all about adding fresh greenery.  It's one of my favorite ways to decorate during the holidays.  Our fresh tree is the only living Christmas "green" right now, but I plan to amend that during Christmas week!

A simply decorated vintage flocked tree really does speak to the words: peace, love, joy.  The same words are incorporated in our holiday home (go peek at our tree!).

Did someone say "The Bachelor"?!  I stumbled upon Shay's blog after watching the Bachelor season that her brother Sean starred in. 😍 Her home is beautiful, but it's her family and the loving stories that she shares with her readers that really capture my heart.

Let's get to the tour!  First up, our family room...

Our family room went through a complete renovation two years ago, which you can read about here.  Lots of cozy snuggling and lounging happens in this room!

Every Christmas, the only thing we buy is a fresh tree.  All the decor is from my holiday stash that I've collected in years past.  The California drought really affected the fresh tree supply this year, so it was very slim pickings for a lush, tall noble fir tree that didn't have brownish branches!  This smaller noble fir does the job, and it fills our home with that fresh pine aroma!

I kept the tree decor simple with mostly gold/brass, silver, and glass ornaments, after going a more traditional color route last year.

Christmas holiday traditions customs decor

The Advent Calendar (above) is a holiday tradition.  My boys visit it every single morning before breakfast, anticipating their "treat" and Advent activity for the day. 😍

Our most cherished holiday treasures sit atop our antique piano...

Our ornament tree and voice ornaments!  I started the ornament tree when my youngest was born eight years ago.  There is a keepsake photo ornament of each of my boys over the years.  I also take an annual "cousin group photo" every Christmas and hang it on the brass tree.  The voice ornaments capture my children's voices at the age of one.  We all love to press the button and listen to their sweet baby voices.  Oh how I wish my kids didn't have to age (me too for that matter)! 😆

Onto the adjacent dining room, which we spruced up during the Spring 2016 One Room Challenge!

Right now, my favorite part of the room is the garland that's strung on the beam!  The room takes on a warm glow at night that is just so inviting.
