Tile on My Mind

We spent most of this past weekend tile shopping for the main bathroom.  The kids were troopers while being dragged around town to different tile stores...

If you've ever been to a specialty tile store, you know that the selection is widespread.  It's best to go in with a budget AND a general idea of the design you want to achieve.  That being said, when we walked into the tile store, I loved so many other tiles that varied from my "original plan".  I was drawn to tile that was way above our budget (like $50-$120+/sf), so those options quickly got eliminated.  We eventually came back to reality and ended up close to the original tile scheme.  The tile is where the chunk of the bathroom reno budget is being allocated, so we spent some time deliberating our options.

Tile Selections

In the end, it was a toss up between a hexagon or herringbone pattern for the carrara marble tile.  We loved both options, but ended up selecting the herringbone simply because it was immediately available!  You can never go wrong with a classic herringbone layout either.  And the subway tile... it will actually be in 4" x 16" lengths...

Thank you for following along our renovation journey.  Make sure to check back for periodic updates!
