Home Tour: A Patterned Apartment

Happy Monday!  Hope you had a wonderful weekend.  We had a busy weekend filled with kids' activities and birthday parties.  We are rolling right into the new week...

Today, I'm touring an apartment that perfectly exemplifies the art and balance of mixing patterns.  I love color, and patterns are a great way to not only infuse multiple colors into a room, but to also add depth and dimension.  Even in tonal rooms, textural patterns give a space depth, dimension, and interest.

Let's take a look at the Madrid home of interior designer, Alia Miriam.  She successfully balanced multiple patterns in her home.  There is animal print, graphics, houndstooth, plaid, and geometrics.

Despite the mix of patterns, her home is fresh and stylish, rather than chaotic and busy.  She carefully balanced solids and patterns, and pulled and repeated colors to accomplish a "playful chic" look.  Her use of white also served as the grounding element that kept her home from appearing "busy".  Are you ready to infuse some color and pattern into your own spaces?!
