There is only ONE week left before all the design participants reveal their room makeovers for the Spring 2017 One Room Challenge! If you follow the #oneroomchallenge on Instagram, then you know the pressure is on. The energy is palpable!
We have been transforming a small 10 ft. x 11.5 ft. bedroom into a triple-purpose bedroom-study-lounge. The room and "before" photos were introduced in WEEK ONE...
The general design direction for the space was shared in a mood board during WEEK TWO...
WEEK THREE was mostly spent collecting mirrors for the gallery wall, as well as tackling a little bit of everything on the "to do" list...
Some of the goodies started rolling in during WEEK FOUR...
Some of the goodies started rolling in during WEEK FOUR...
...and the practical but blah ceiling fan also got replaced with this aged bronze and brass light fixture!
So here we are in WEEK FIVE, aka the week everyone goes into overdrive to meet the deadline of this six-week design challenge! I have been playing with the bedding textiles over the past few days constantly mixing and matching fabrics to try and get a dynamic combination of colors and patterns. I must say, the process has been testing me!
The best part of this past week though...?! The gallery wall of mirrors is UP, and it looks GREAT! Can't wait to show you, but here's a peek at the beginning of the installation...
This room will come down to the wire. Don't they all?! 😉 While the scope of work was intentionally not as DIY labor-intensive as our family room and dining room makeovers, rooms nonetheless take time to pull together. Here's where things stand:
- Paint entire room ✔✔
- Closet door DIY treatment ✔✔
- Replace ceiling fan with light fixture ✔✔
- Run any necessary electrical for electronic components & study nook
- Task/accent lighting ✔✔
- Area rug ✔✔
- Bedroom/lounge furniture ✔✔
- Textiles for lounge area - pillows, blankets ✔✔
- Small desk ✔✔
- Chair for study nook
- Accent furniture - side table, pouf ✔✔
- Gallery wall - mirrors, possibly art ✔✔
- Console table for media wall ✔✔
- Mount television
Love that gorgeous wall color, especially with the brass frame! Can't wait to see more. Good luck this week!!
