Design Project: Layered Neutrals Bedroom Design

professional online interior e-design master bedroom

This bedroom project was a fun one to design. I often found myself thinking about making similar updates to our own (yet to be renovated) bedroom as I pulled this room together. Fresh new bedding and decor can go a long way!

BACKGROUND

This client is a single mom who rents a house in an area local to me. She requested a calm and peaceful bedroom that would feel like a sanctuary - understandably given her legal profession. The design was kept "simple-to-execute and renter-friendly".

DESIGN GOAL

"Oasis" was the term used when this client described how she wanted her bedroom to feel. My goal was to provide her with a soothing and calming space to begin and end her days. This was primarily achieved through sumptuous bedding linens, a soft and neutral color pallet, and layered textures. Another consideration was that the room be pet-friendly since she has a dog.

FLOOR PLAN

When it comes to "primary" bedrooms, I typically recommend and design around king-sized beds. However, this bedroom is ~10' x 13', so a queen-sized bed was ideal within the smaller footprint. I was also able to carve out a cozy reading nook with this layout.
